Chicago Runner

Hello, you have stumbled upon my training blog for the Chicago Marathon. This is my first Marathon and I am running it in honor of my late Grandmother, and to raise money for the disease that killed her Diabetes. So come back, and don't forget to donate to the Diabetes Action Fund.

5.5 Miles...

Put away today. Looking to do 8 tommorow. I think I can do it. Than I’m going to take Thursday off, lol.  Thanks again to all my donors, keep it coming!

Also, just found out about a Chicago Blackhawks 5K September 19th! I’m so pumped for that! Now only if there is a White Sox one!

Hi Friends. Sorry for so no updates for so long. Lots has been going on. Between trying to find time to run and working my butt off I haven’t had a lot of time to post on the blog! So first thing is first, I would like to thank the 3 people who have donated so far to the Diabetes Action Fund in my honor, I’m so thankful that you already have donated! I can’t say enough!
The next thing is I ran two 5ks a couple weeks ago back to back. The first was the Race to Wrigley, which I did with my Cousin Megan. It was a blast, we ran at her pace, and finished at a time around 30 minutes.
The next day I did the Ravenswood Run, and I finished 931st out of 2800 people. You can see the results http://www.fleetfeetchicago.com/results/09raven_overall.html Also set my time at 26:13 for a 5k. Which I am pretty happy with. The picture above is also from the Ravenswood Run.
As far as training I have been trying to maintain 4-5 miles per day, with two days off. I feel good and strong, and anxious for June 22nd, when the training starts “officially”. I’ll be back with an update soon, but in the meanwhile you should donate to the Diabetes Action Fund!

Soooo Sore...

So after 3 miles balls to the wall on Friday, 5 miles yesterday, I decided to make it an easy one today. Only 3 miles, at an easy pace. I’m sooo incredibly sore. But the Chicago Fire open their season today, so I’m pretty stoked for that!

Probably going to take tommorow off!

Back on Track....

Drop kicked 3 miles today, back on track after the debacle that was this weekend. Shooting for 4 tommorow, and probably an off day on Friday….I dunno. We shall see.

No Shamrock Shuffle

After checking it out outside, and deciding to not risk my health, I’m tapping out of the shuffle. Le sigh. There is always next year when there isn’t 5 inches of snow with a 21 degree wind chill, right?

Woke up to a blizzard, debating on whether or not to actually go downtown to run the Shamrock Shuffle…..thoughts?

Training Update!

Due to oversleeping and being overworked, I skipped my run yesterday, but jammed out 5 miles this morning. I’m feeling good, and confident for the Shuffle on Sunday.

Gonna try to do 3 miles tommorow, than Saturday to Navy Pier to pick up my registration packet. In the meanwhile, you should donate!

This is my training plan for the Marathon. It’s a 16 Week training program so that puts training start date at June 22nd.
Only 3 miles today for the first run of the week, going to take it easy. I’m thinking 3 today, 4 tommorow, 5 Thursday, 3 Friday, Saturday off Sunday Shamrock Shuffle!
